But error is also a formidable tool for learning, one that we use during our lifetime to improve our performance and evolve. During a 3-hour workshop, we will first talk about error as a learning tool, types of errors in Medicine, and the role of simulation in learning and error avoidance. The participants will be immersed in two different clinical scenarios and allowed (but not induced) to make errors, depending on whether their interpretation, interaction and decision are correct or not. The course of action will then be debriefed with the help of trained instructors.
